And There’s An Offensive Lineman! Bears Take Jordan Morgan With Pick No. 147 In The NFL Draft

Chicago Bears

We’ve made it to Round 5, where the Chicago Bears have finally addressed the offensive line:

Jordan Morgan becomes the second Division II athlete the Bears have picked in this draft, joining tight end Adam Shaheen who played his ball at Ashland University in Ohio. Morgan played at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, and did so at a high level. He was a four-year starter at left tackle, with his career culminating in being named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2016.

At 6-foot-3, 309 pounds, Morgan exhibits ideal size for a NFL offensive lineman. Plus he was dominant at the Division II level allows for a glimmer of hope that the Bears have added an offensive lineman with upside via a late-round selection. It will be worth watching Morgan develop to see whether he slides inside to guard or can stick as a tackle.

Unless the team moves back into the draft, the selection of Morgan with the 147th overall pick puts a wrap on the Bears’ NFL Draft class.
