The Chicago Bears officially added another rookie into the fold by signing second-round pick Adam Shaheen to a four-year deal:

After aggressively trading up to draft quarterback Mitch Trubisky – who remains the team’s only unsigned pick from the NFL Draft – GM Ryan Pace successfully traded down from the 36th pick to take the 45th selection. That is where the Bears would choose Shaheen, a tight end from Division II Ashland University in Ohio who checked in at 6-foot-6 and 278 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
There were 14 tight ends chosen in the NFL Draft, including three in the first round. Shaheen (who you can get to know here) was the fifth player drafted at his position, slotting one pick behind South Alabama’s Gerald Everett. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune writes Shaheen’s deal should be more lucrative than the one signed by Derrick Henry, a running back chosen by the Tennessee Titans with the 45th pick in the 2016 draft. Henry, who won the Heisman Trophy in at Alabama, signed a deal worth $5.4 million and $2.1 million in guarantees.
Shaheen put up eye-popping numbers as he dominated Division II foes, catching 57 passes for 867 yards, and 16 touchdowns in 11 games.
The Bears have now signed four of their five draft picks, as Shaheen joins Eddie Jackson, Tarik Cohen, and Jordan Morgan.
