God’s Wrath Watch: Danny Trevathan Will Travel with Team, Could Play Sunday Against Titans

Chicago Bears News

Danny Trevathan’s first season with the Chicago Bears ended with a resounding thud when he was placed on season-ending injured reserve after playing just nine games.

But what if I told you Trevathan could make his return against the team he last faced?

That’s a distinct possibility after head coach John Fox announced Trevathan would travel with the team to Nashville for its preseason Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

“We’re still going to talk on that. He’ll make the trip for sure,” Fox said during his media briefing Friday at Halas Hall. “We’ll meet with the coaching staff a little bit later to talk about playing time.”

Fox went on to add Trevathan has been cleared medically, and has been building confidence, as well as taking on an increased amount of practice reps with pads. Trevathan has gone through the rehab process and is working his way into game shape, which is welcome news considering it was believed he would have to start the regular season on the physically unable to perform list. Instead, Trevathan wasn’t even placed on the preseason PUP list – which might have been the first sign his recovery process was ahead of schedule.

And even though no official decision has been made about his playing status, Trevathan traveling with the team is – at minimum – an encouraging sign.

Feels good to share some good news from the injury report for a change.
