Things have changed in the 179 days since the Chicago Bears signed quarterback Mike Glennon.
But despite rookie Mitch Trubisky waiting in the wings and Glennon’s status as a placeholder, Glennon was one of the five players named as a captain for the 2017 team. Hopefully, this doesn’t make things awkward if/when Trubisky takes over at some point.
The Bears even posted a nifty video to highlight the highest-ranking members of the team:

Glennon, a 27-year-old quarterback who won’t turn 28 until December, is joined by fellow free agent signee safety Quintin Demps, right guard Josh Sitton, inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman, and cornerback/special teams ace Sherrick McManis as team captains. McManis is the longest tenured Bears player, having played 71 games since joining the team in 2012.
McManis has the distinction of being the only player remaining from the last winning season posted by the Bears, who went 10-6 in 2012 … but missed the playoffs.
