Ah, the kind of post I would have almost no interest in doing (but would, begrudgingly) if the Bears had lost yesterday’s game against the Steelers.
But, since the Bears won the game anyway on Jordan Howard’s overtime touchdown run, it’s a lot more fun to look back at the would-have-been 73-yard game-winning Tarik Cohen run that was called back after he was ruled out of bounds, and ultimately set up Howard’s game winner.
First, a look at the full run – out of bounds or not, it’s so much fun to watch Cohen do his work. Defenders, you aren’t gonna do diddly plop with him in the open field:

You can see in the run where Cohen purportedly stepped out of bounds, and it was immediately apparent that a review was warranted.
But on the best looks we could get, I’m not sure I see indisputable video evidence that Cohen was out:

In the clip and the picture, you can certainly see how Cohen *might* have been out. If you follow the line and extrapolate to where Cohen’s shoe was probably touching the ground, sure, there’s at least a 50/50 shot that the back of his foot was touching white. But I’m not sure I can look at the clip and the picture and say it’s indisputable either way.
This is all totally academic, because obviously Howard went on to finish the Steelers off, but it’s not hard to imagine a world where this totally burned the Bears, and we were left stewing for a few weeks about a replay call that didn’t make a lot of sense.
In any case, it was another fantastic moment for Cohen, as part of a game that saw him rush for 78 yards on 12 carries, and add another 24 yards on 4 receptions. He’s not done much between the tackles just yet, but when the Bears are able to get him out and involved with some green around him, the things he can do are incredible.
