Danny Trevathan’s playing status for each game since the bye has been “questionable” as he recovers from a calf injury sustained during the team’s Week 8 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Twenty-six days later, things aren’t any better for the Chicago Bears’ ace inside linebacker.
Trevathan was listed as “doubtful” on the team’s injury report for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. If he doesn’t play, that will mark the third straight missed game (and fourth this season) for Trevathan. The Bears have missed his presence in the middle of their defense, whether it has been as a run or pass defender. Nick Kwiatkoski and Christian Jones will the Bears’ starting inside linebackers with Trevathan out of the picture.
Also listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game after missing Friday’s practice are wide receiver Josh Bellamy (concussion), defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris (hamstring), and safety DeAndre Houston-Carson (ankle).
Defensive end Akiem Hicks (knee), right guard Kyle Long (ankle), backup offensive lineman Tom Compton (ankle), and nickel cornerback Bryce Callahan (knee) were all limited in practice and listed as questionable. Head Coach John Fox made it seem like Hicks and Long were undergoing maintenance days on Thursday and were limited in practice in order to ensure their availability on Sunday. Callahan, who would be a nice addition against the Eagles’ strong passing attack, hasn’t missed both games since the bye and was limited to just 12 snaps back in Week 8.
There was a bit of concern when Dontrelle Inman’s name popped up on Wednesday’s injury report because of a groin injury. Inman has been Mitch Trubisky’s top target and has been productive when in the lineup. Losing him against the Eagles would have been a blow for an offense that needs every break it can get.
Thankfully, the Bears’ big trade deadline addition was a full-go at Friday’s practice and was removed from the injury report altogether. Joining him in full participation was tight end Dion Sims (who returned to practice for the first time since being sidelined with an illness) and defensive end Mitch Unrein.
