The first half of Sunday’s game between the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles looked like a game between a 3-7 team on the rebuilding path and a 9-1 squad with its eyes on a Super Bowl run.
Chicago’s offense has been lifeless and unable to move the ball, cooking up 33 total yards in the first half. On the other side of the field, Philadelphia has scored on four of their last five possessions, including three straight. Highlights have been few and far between for the Bears, but two early plays have stood out.

Amos stripped LeGarrette Blount after a huge gain that came after rookie safety Eddie Jackson whiffed on a tackle attempt. Luckily, his tag team partner in the secondary was there to bail him out with a turnover that gave the Bears good field position. Unfortunately, it led to Cairo Santos missing his first field goal attempt with the Bears – a 54-yarder that was short and wide right.

After Mitch Trubisky threw an interception, tight end Dion Sims forced a fumble that was recovered by Tre McBride III that helped the Bears retain possession. Week 12 represents the first game action for Sims since before the bye week. Sims had missed the team’s last two games while dealing with an illness.
Other than that, the Bears haven’t done much to shake the notion that the Eagles are the NFL’s best team. And that’s not likely to change when you have more penalty yards (36) than scrimmage yards (33) in a half.
