The Lions are not an especially good football team, but they’re clearly better than the Bengals. And after the Bears looked so crisp and effective last week, the Lions prepared well to fend off the Bears’ generally uninspired offensive approach.
Mitch Trubisky had three picks on the day, one that got away from him, one that he tried to force, and one that simply looked like a miscommunication. You’ll have that with a rookie QB, but it was certainly a contrast after his best game last week against the Bengals. At times, he locked on a bit, and wasn’t setting his feet as well as you hope he will in the future.
On the whole, though, if you could take away the interceptions (I know, I know, I know!), I thought Trubisky looked really impressive at times, leading several excellent drives. Once again, I come away thinking, “Yeah, I can see this working eventually. Surround him with talent, and this can work.”
To that end, hey, it’s another loss for the Bears, who will stay solidly in the top ten draft spots as of right now, allowing for a solid infusion of talent come April …
