Watch The Offense’s One Highlight: Mitch Trubisky Throws A Late TD To Benny Cunningham

Chicago Bears Highlights

Penalties. Penalties. Penalties.

They handcuffed the Chicago Bears all afternoon and into the early evening, but Mitch Trubisky finally was able to overcome … at least once.

Trubisky capped a 13-play, 92-hard drive with a touchdown pass to running back Benny Cunningham on the team’s second to last possession of the game. The drive started with a slew of penalties that drove the Bears deep inside their own territory.

It was a silver lining in a game marred by miscues, including three Trubisky interceptions. But here’s your highlight, enjoy it while you can:

Offensive Coordinator Dowell Loggains trusted Trubisky with some vertical passes and was rewarded with some strong throws from the rookie quarterback. It was a breath of fresh air after a conservative first half in which the team scored just a last-second field goal before the half expired.

It’s back to the drawing board for the rookie quarterback who completed 31 of 46 passes (68.3% is pretty good) for 314 yards (also pretty good, all things considered). It was Trubisky’s first 300-yard passing game, a milestone of sorts for the rookie — especially considering how this game started. That it came in a loss will overshadow this achievement.

In the end, throwing more interceptions (3) than touchdowns (1) feels like a step back.
