Adrian Amos looks like he’s ready to make his triumphant return to the Chicago Bears’ secondary on Sunday. Indeed, Amos was listed as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, marking his removal from the injury report and putting him in line to start in Week 16 against the Browns.
But as one stud leaves the injury report, another one pops up.
Guard Josh Sitton did not practice because of an ankle injury he suffered in the team’s Week 15 loss to the Detroit Lions. You can check out the full injury report right here.
When we last saw Amos, he was playing at the top of his game. Part of GM Ryan Pace’s first draft class with the Bears, Amos was in the midst of a breakout season which included his first interception and touchdown of his career. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury sidelined him for three games, and because injuries throughout the secondary left the Bears short-handed, the team had to re-sign safety Chris Prosinski off the street and immediately insert him into the starting lineup.
That said, the timing couldn’t be better, especially when you notice that Prosinski (concussion) was limited in practice on Wednesday. Prosinski played just three snaps in Saturday’s loss to the Lions after suffering a concussion.
Joining Prosinksi as “limited at practice” were tight end Adam Shaheen (chest), offensive lineman Tom Compton (concussion), and wide receiver Josh Bellamy (foot).
Shaheen sat out Week 15 against Detroit because of the chest injury he suffered in the team’s Week 14 win against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bears missed Shaheen’s presence, especially in the red zone where Mitch Trubisky threw his first third-down interception of the season. Bellamy played more than 75 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in Week 15 and has been targeted often by Trubisky, who has thrown to him at least four times in three of Bellamy’s last five games.
Head Coach John Fox also took some time to provide some specifics regarding Kyle Long’s surgery. The three-time Pro Bowl lineman had successful surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back. Long went on season-ending injured reserve in December because of a lingering shoulder injury. Best wishes to Long in his recovery process.
