The beginning of the end (of Bears Injury Report season) is here.
Two starting offensive linemen did not practice today, as guard Josh Sitton (ankle) and right tackle Bobby Massie (knee) were non participants in Wednesday’s practice.
Sitton missed Sunday’s win against the Cleveland Browns after suffering an ankle injury in Week 15 against the Detroit Lions. Massie was injured early in Week 16, returned, but was lifted later in a game in which he played a total of 42 snaps.
Help for the offensive line could be on the horizon, though, in the form of Tom Compton, who was a full participant. Fellow reserve offensive lineman Bradley Sowell (back) was limited in practice. You can check out the full injury report here.
It’s feeling more likely than not that we’ve seen the last of rookie tight end Adam Shaheen in 2017. Shaheen has missed the last two games and was limited in practice again on Wednesday. The Bears’ second-round pick in 2017 has been a limited participant in practice since suffering a chest injury in the Bears’ Week 14 win against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chicago didn’t necessarily miss Shaheen in Week 16, but he was just starting to show what he could do with an expanded look on offense. I suppose the Bears are better off allowing Shaheen to rest and heal in order to ensure his full health heading into the 2018 season.
