Enhanced Box Scores

If you came into this one hoping for a Bears loss in which they showed signs of life, progress, and hope for the future … well … you got one of those things.

The Bears lost, ensuring they will pick no lower than 9th in the April draft, not much of a consolation prize for a 5-11 season that sure felt like it deserved a top five pick. The Vikings, for their part, locked up a first round bye, playing through a myriad of injuries, and giving Bears fans a glimpse at the kind of season they hope to be having in the near future.

The Bears’ final attempt to score a touchdown as the 4th quarter wound down typified the year. Four plays from the goal line: a stuffed, telegraphed run. Miscommunication on a route. A bizarre slant play call for Cohen. And a confused-looking shuffle play.

With time, that will look different. Probably. But for today, it felt just about right.
