Jordan Howard is a man with a plan to get the Chicago Bears to the promise land.
When asked by the crew of NFL Network’s Good Morning Football what he wanted the Bears to do in the offseason, Howard didn’t hesitate to share his thoughts: “We gotta go out there and get some receivers. We definitely gotta get some receivers in to help Mitch,” Howard said. “I feel like that’s the part that’s going to complete us. We’ve got the run game down, we’ve just got to get the passing game going. I feel like that will take us over the top. We got a lot of money, too.”
Evidently, Howard knows the team has a ton of projected cap flexibility and has an idea on where to use it.
Howard has been one of the team’s most outspoken players since John Fox was fired and Matt Nagy was hired as his replacement. Earlier in the offseason, he made it clear that he wasn’t a fan of the old scheme, but has expressed optimism regarding the team’s offense moving forward. And perhaps that optimism (teamed with a returning top-10 defense) is why Howard was willing to guarantee a playoff appearance for the Bears in 2018. Yep. He went there.
You can check out his full interview below (including his comments about adding a receiver), but the prediction game starts around the 4:00 min mark:

OK, so a player making a bold prediction and expressing confidence that he and his teammates will turn it around isn’t groundbreaking stuff. But one who knows what it will take to get things moving in the right direction and is willing to speak on it, well, that’s something I can get on board with.
Alshon Jeffery made his Super Bowl guarantee last year, but jumped ship for greener pastures and made good on that promise. Howard probably isn’t going anywhere this offseason, so the Bears will need to make quite the turnaround to fulfill this prophecy.
Surely, bolstering the receivers room will help the cause.
By the way, did you notice that Fanatics logo Howard’s got on his chest? Well, you can get his jersey for 25% off today at Fanatics … so if you were on the edge because of the cost, today’s the day:
