The Bears Released Their Preseason Schedule, Which Includes Matt Nagy Facing His Former Team

Matt Nagy won’t have to wait long before going up against his mentor. In fact, he’ll get to do so in what is widely believed to be the most important game of the preseason.

The Chicago Bears shared their full preseason schedule on Wednesday, which includes a preseason Week 3 matchup against the Andy Reid-coached Kansas City Chiefs. Nagy served under Reid from 2008 until 2017 before being hired by the Bears in January to replace John Fox.

In what is an odd schedule quirk – at least by preseason standards – each of the Bears’ five opponents are from the AFC. That’s right, five preseason games. Remember, the Bears and Ravens will square off on Thursday, August 2 in the Hall of Fame Game that kick off that weekend’s festivities – which will be highlighted by legendary middle linebacker Brian Urlacher being part of this class of Hall of Famers.

Noticeably missing is the annual preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns. This is the first time since 2003 in which Chicago hasn’t wrapped up the preseason against Cleveland’s club. Instead, the Bears get two AFC North teams to start the preseason with a “Week 1” contest against the Baltimore Ravens.

If you’ll recall, the Bears owned the AFC North as they swept the division for three of their five wins. I fully expect that level of domination to continue into the preseason. When do the Bears get to raise the AFC North championship banner anyway?
