The Chicago Bears Released Their Preseason Schedule Yesterday, Too

Chicago Bears

The NFL makes quite a big deal out of its schedule release, so much so, the reveal gets prime-time placement on a Thursday evening.

And while we’re already making plans for Bears-Packers in the season-opener in Green Bay on Sunday Night Football, we should use this moment as a reminder that the team has a five-game (yes, that’s right) preseason schedule to go through.

This is how it will open up for the 2018 Chicago Bears:

  • Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio: August 2 vs. Baltimore Ravens, 7 (FOX)
  • Week 1: August 9 at Cincinnati Bengals, 6
  • Week 2: August 18 at Denver Broncos, 8:05 (FOX)
  • Week 3: August 25 vs. Kansas City Chiefs, noon (FOX)
  • Week 4: August 30 vs. Buffalo Bills, 7 (FOX)

Tack on the scheduled joint practices (c’mon, the jokes write themselves (especially today)) with the Broncos before Week 2 and we’re looking at a pretty packed preseason. While additional preseason action opens up the possibilities for more unfortunate injuries, I’m willing to take a glass-half-full approach and see it as an extra opportunity for first-year head coach Matt Nagy to get his players up to speed with his coaching style.

The Bears won’t play a preseason home game until 23 days after the preseason opens up. And then, they’ll play two home games in a five-day span as they follow up their all-important preseason Week 3 matchup with an anticlimactic Week 4 showdown with the Bills.

At that point, we’ll be hoping the Bears have kept the injuries to a minimum.
