Through his first five games in Chicago, Khalil Mack has changed the Bears defense and helped push the team to a solid 3-2 start, featuring a spot atop the NFC North standings. The impact he’s made in Chicago is truly enormous and it’s not being overlooked nationally.
Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller reached out to 12 NFL coaches, general managers, and executives in search of the answer to one question: who are the 10 best players in the league right now? And if you’re a Bears fan, you’re probably going to be pleased with at least one of the answers.

- Tom Brady, QB – Patriots
- Khalil Mack, LB – Bears
- Todd Gurley, RB – Rams
- Patrick Mahomes, QB – Chiefs
- Aaron Donald, DT – Rams

Mack checks in as the third best player in the NFL – THIRD – while the only two guys ahead of him are quarterbacks. So not only are NFL leaders putting Mack as the best defensive player in the league, he’s the best non-quarterback, too. That’s some ridiculously high praise. It almost makes the price the Bears paid to acquire Mack look light.
And don’t think Mack is trending down any time soon, either. A scout who checked in told Miller the only thing that could slow him down and keep him off the list was that nagging ankle injury that popped up last week. So as long as Mack can stay healthy, he’ll be a fixture at the top of this set of power rankings.
