Khalil Mack’s name is the first one on each and every scouting report whenever teams face the Bears.
And even though Chicago’s showdown with Washington isn’t for another 129 days, Mack is already causing concern for rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins:
“Khalil Mack is somebody I do not want to be touched by.”
So few words, but so much respect.
Mack put together his third All-Pro season in four years as he came up with 12.5 sacks and 18 quarterback hits in 14 games with the Bears last season. And here’s a fun factoid about his first year with the Bears: Mack came up with either a sack or quarterback hit in 10 of 13 games last year. The only games in which he didn’t – the two games he played injured against Miami and New England, as well as the Week 17 finale against Minnesota. So statistically speaking, the odds strongly suggest that Haskins is going to become just another statistic. Sorry, kid. But someone had to be the bearer of bad news. Better me than someone else, am I right?
It’s clear that Haskins wants no part of Mack … and I can’t blame him.
