The Chicago Bears are being represented by third-round running back David Montgomery (second row, behind the Raiders player wearing No. 13) and fourth-round receiver Riley Ridley (third row, far right on the end, wearing No. 88) at the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere event this weekend in Los Angeles. You can check out the rest of the players who were invited to the annual event.
I must say getting two Bears to L.A. for the event despite not picking until Round 3 is pretty neat.
This is the third consecutive year in which some high-profile Bears rookies have made the trek out west. Anthony Miller represented the Bears last year (and had a heck of a weekend doing so), while Mitch Trubisky was there back in 2017. This is a prestigious event for the league’s rookies, and it’s good that Bears players keep catching invites.
So, what is this event put on by the NFL’s Player’s Association? In short, it’s an opportunity for the league’s rookies to get a taste of some of the business, marketing, and professional aspects of life as an NFL player. It also provides opportunities for this class of draft picks to connect with each other on a personal level. Because when it’s all said and done, there is life after football and there is no better time to prepare for it than now. And it can’t hurt to mingle with your contemporaries while you can.
Here’s to the beginning of a wonderful career for Montgomery, Ridley, and the rest of the rookies in this bunch!
