David Montgomery was a Pro Football Focus first-team All-American and consensus first-team All-Big 12 for Iowa State last year as he earned top-5 running back prospect status in his draft class.
Indeed, the Chicago Bears thought highly enough of Montgomery to use their limited draft capital to trade up to select him in the third round. So with that in mind, you can understand why Montgomery might have been feeling himself when it came to his rating in the upcoming Madden NFL video game.

“From my perspective, I’d give myself a 93,” Montgomery says. “But from y’all perspective…”
“Oh, this is all types of disrespectful.”
Montgomery was given a 71 overall grade in his rookie season in Madden ’20, but he wasn’t the only one who was less-than-thrilled about the number attached to their names. Check out what Montgomery and a handful of the top first-year players said in a clip shared from the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere from earlier in the offseason.
Montgomery might feel like he has been dissed by the game’s creators, but there are worse grades to have as a third-round rookie. For example, Montgomery has an ACCELERATION grade of 87 and an AGILITY grade of 85. Those are respectable numbers that could see an up-tick once he gets his feet wet in the league and puts some highlights on film.
