David Montgomery just showed a glimpse of why the Bears moved up to pluck him with the 73rd pick of the 2019 NFL Draft:
We could get used to this from @MontgomerDavid.

YEP! We could get used to that!
Montgomery capped a six-play, 49-yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown run to give the Bears a 7-6 lead with 6:58 remaining in the second quarter. The Bears featured Montgomery heavily on that drive, giving him four touches which he turned into 41 yards. Two of those plays were rushes (for 12 yards) and the other two were catches (29 yards). Montgomery’s pass-catching and play-making potential made it easier to accept the Bears’ decision to trade away running back Jordan Howard.
As we discussed earlier, Montgomery is in line to get a bunch of looks this preseason. But if Montgomery continues to make big plays like he did on that last drive, the Bears are going to want to ease up on his workload to ensure his readiness for the regular season.
