Mitch Trubisky and the Chicago Bears are on to Green Bay … kinda.
The Bears still have their final preparations to go through ahead of Saturday’s preseason contest against the Colts. After that, their attention and energy will move toward wrapping things up in the exhibition season finale against the Titans on August 29. But while that’s taking place, Trubisky will be shifting his focus on the Bears’ regular-season opener against the Packers.
In fact, those preparations have already begun to take place.
“I’m flipping on Green Bay film, watching their games from last year, keeping an eye on what they’re doing in preseason, looking out for the new guys they’ve added, and studying as much as I can,” Trubisky told reporters. “You’ve just got to find that balance, but I definitely have my eye on them.”
Trubisky said he is still working through this week’s preseason game plan and is fully supporting his teammates going into battle against the Colts. HOWEVER, Trubisky has bigger fish to fry down the line and has made time to plan for the regular season’s first game of consequence. Chicago’s QB1 has turned on film and started his studies, checking out what worked against the Packers last year, what didn’t, and more. If you’ll recall, the Bears’ preparation for Week 1 in 2018 also started early. And things looked good (at least for one half). Ideally, Trubisky’s preparation for the 2019 opener includes a course on finishing strong.
Preparation is key, and Trubisky knows it. And if knowledge is power (ed. note: it is!), I hope he uses it to its full potential.
Trubisky touched on a variety of topics in his weekly press conference, the latest of which you can watch via the video that has been embedded below:
