Let Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy tell a story about the time Aaron Rodgers (yes, that Aaron Rodgers) tripped him at a golf tournament:
That Nagy’s reaction was “This is gonna be fun” after realizing he was tripped up by the Green Bay Packers starting quarterback while walking around at a golf tournament is quite the eye-opener. The Bears coach loves to embrace the rivalries of the NFC North, so a little prank from Rodgers is only going to add fuel to the fire. Take a moment to think about how in-his-element Nagy is when old-school football is involved.
We’ve heard Nagy get nostalgic about old-timey football in press conference, and even saw evidence of it on the field. Like when he used the T-Formation on his first play as a head coach, or the time he threw it back to the days of William “Refrigerator” Perry scoring goal-line touchdowns by handing monstrous defensive end Akiem Hicks the ball. Nagy lives for the rivalries, and this one just got turned up another notch (as if it needed it).
Because Rodgers tripping Nagy is all fun and games right now. But somewhere in Halas Hall, Nagy is probably giving Defensive Coordinator Chuck Pagano the green light to send the house at Rodgers on every play. After all, revenge is a dish best served in front of a nationally televised audience on the Soldier Field turf.
