At this time next week, we’ll be 100 percent all-in on Bears-Packers. And while I would love nothing more than to press fast forward on this week, there are still some things to clear up before we get to that point.
There are roster spots to be earned tonight when the Bears host the Titans in the preseason finale. The battle for a reserve tight end spot rages on with Bradley Sowell, Ian Bunting, Jesper Horsted, and Dax Raymond angling for a spot on the season-opening roster. There are reps to be scooped up in the secondary, too. Cornerbacks such as Clifton Duck, John Franklin III, and Kevin Toliver II are in the running for inclusion for the 53-man roster. Reserve linemen, receivers, running backs, linebackers, and others are set to take the field for one last audition under the lights.
Oh, and it’s one final opportunity for Eddy Piñeiro to lock down his position as the Bears’ Week 1 kicker. That feels pretty important.
It has been 235 days since the Bears last played a game of consequence, so what’s a few more? And even though I don’t like making promises, I’ll make an exception now because I promise you the next pre-gamin’ we’ll do will be one for a game you’re going to want to do everything to see. But we just have to make it through this one first. Let’s do it together, shall we?
