A shakeup has come to the Chicago Bears lineup for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, as TE Adam Shaheen’s status as flipped to inactive
Shaheen was not on the injury report at all this week, so his placement on the game-day inactive list suggests a healthy scratch. Which is a disappointing development for the Bears’ 2017 second-round pick, who has yet to properly use his size, strength, and athleticism within the confines of the game.
This was suppose to be the year in which he was going to put it together, especially since he entered the season with a clean bill of health. Instead, nothing has gone to plan for Shaheen this season.
The last two weeks have been incredibly frustrating when it comes to watching Shaheen’s play. Two weeks ago, Shaheen appeared to have run the wrong route in a goal-line passing situation, going out on a slant when a fade appeared to be called. And last week’s muffed attempt at recovering a short kick-off cost the Bears a chance to have one last shot at a comeback against the Eagles – an especially painful moment. So perhaps this healthy scratch has been a long time coming, especially with the lack of positive results in recent games.
