Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur wants his team prepared for everything.
But also, specifically, the return of the guy who wears No. 96 on the Chicago Bears’ defense:
#Packers HC Matt LaFleur says they are preparing for Akiem Hicks to play Sunday.

The Packers’ head coach is preparing as if Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks will suit up and play on Sunday. And why wouldn’t he? Since December 1, the vibe has been that Hicks will return if medically cleared. Meanwhile, Hicks has practiced as if he is preparing to play. So, yeah, this makes sense. Good thinking, coach.
Hicks has been on injured reserve since suffering an elbow injury in Week 5 and is eligible to be activated on Saturday. But Hicks has been around the team while recovering from the injury, so there shouldn’t be any problems jumping back into the fray.Meanwhile, Hicks as been gearing up to play at a high level when he returns. As far as Hicks is concerned, if he can round into form, there isn’t anything that is going to stop him from playing in the next installment of the NFL’s longest-standing rivalry.
And with an injury report littered with players who did not practice on Wednesday, the simple thought of Hicks being back on the field softens the potential blow of being without some key depth players.
