Getting to Know the Combine’s Top Defensive Back Prospects Working Out Tonight

Chicago Bears

The NFL Scouting Combine features draft-eligible prospects showcasing their skills in front of NFL front office executives, scouts, coaches, and fans who tune in on NFL Network to take in the event. If the Bears are going to get back to their winning ways, the process will begin with successful scouting at the Combine that serves as a springboard to a building a strong draft board. So let’s highlight some prospects working out in today’s drills and see if we can find some future fits.

Previous: QB/TE/WR. OL/RB/Specialists, DL/LB/EDGE

Today: Defensive backs

  1. Jeff Okudah, Ohio State
  2. Kristian Fulton, LSU
  3. Trevon Diggs, Alabama
  4. CJ Henderson, Florida
  5. Bryce Hall, Virginia
  6. A.J. Terrell, Clemson
  7. Jeff Gladney, TCU
  8. Damon Arnette, Ohio State
  9. Cameron Dantzler, Mississippi State
  10. Jaylon Johnson, Utah

These prospects have met with the Bears: A.J. Green, Oklahoma State; Troy Pride, Notre Dame

One to watch: I’m here for brothers going at it:

  1. Xavier McKinney, Alabama
  2. Grant Delpit, LSU
  3. Ashtyn Davis, California
  4. Antoine Winfield Jr., Minnesota
  5. Terrell Burgess, Utah
  6. Kyle Dugger, Lenoir-Rhyne
  7. J.R. Reed, Georgia
  8. Brandon Jones, Texas
  9. Julian Blackmon, Utah
  10. Brian Cole II, Mississippi State

These prospects have met with the Bears: Rodney Clemons, SMU; Jeremiah Dinson, Auburn; Antoine Brooks Jr., Maryland; Geno Stone, Iowa; Jeremy Chinn, Southern Illinois

One to watch: Jeremy Chinn played at a small school, but showed big-time skills with the Salukis and more than held his own against the big boys at the Senior Bowl. Some talent evaluators might see him as something of a tweener who isn’t quite a safety or a linebacker, but testing well at the Combine will likely bring clarity to his future in the pros.
