As if you needed more reason to believe the Bears’ hunt for a backup QB was real, the guy who did the job the last two years is taking his talents to Motown.
News from ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Former Bears' QB Chase Daniel, who beat the Detroit on Thanksgiving Day last season, reached agreement with the Lions today on a three-year, $13.05 million deal that includes a voidable clause, per source.

Chase Daniel is signing a three-year contract with the Detroit Lions worth $13.05 million. That’s a fair amount of money for a career backup quarterback, but this is old hat for Daniel. According to OverTheCap.com, Daniel has banked more than $35 million in his career. Not bad for a guy who has thrown just 218 passes … total.
Daniel moves on to Detroit, where he will sit behind Matthew Stafford and presumably teach him the ins-and-outs of what it’s like to learn offense from Andy Reid and Sean Payton. That’s his calling card, after all. Between Daniel’s signing and the addition of defensive lineman Nick Williams, the Lions are doing a heckuva job in cornering the market on players who know a thing or two about the Bears. That’s fitting, especially since Detroit is winless against Chicago since Matt Nagy arrived.
UPDATE: The Lions are releasing QB Kyle Sloter after their deal with Chase Daniel
