While the Cole Kmet pick is going to engender mixed responses, the Chicago Bears *OTHER* second-round selection will likely generate some positive vibes.
With the 50th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Bears selected Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson. If the name feels familiar, it might be because mock drafts have connected Johnson and the Bears as early as December. Back then, Johnson was mocked to the Bears, using the first of the tam’s two second-rounders. Fast forward to April, and Johnson now joins a Bears secondary that needed help at cornerback after releasing Prince Amukamara earlier in the offseason.
Johnson was the top corner on one of college football’s best defenses. He earned second-team All-American honors from the Associated Press and first-team All-Pac-12 distinction for the second consecutive season. Over the last two seasons, Johnson has played in 27 games, picked up six interceptions, broken up 15 passes, and scored a pair of touchdowns on pick-sixes. All things considered, Johnson is a solid pick.
We’ll have more on the Johnson pick as the night goes on.
