After turning down the opportunity to use his team’s two second-round picks to trade back and collect some extra pick capital yesterday, Bears GM Ryan Pace has been wheeling and dealing to add picks on Day 3.
The first was to draft pass-rusher Trevis Gipson, but the latest helped the Bears bolster the offense.
Here’s the trade …
Terms: #Bears get 173 and 227. #Eagles get 196, 200 and 233.

Finally! A weapon for the offense!
The Bears drafted Tulane wide receiver Darnell Mooney. Tulane isn’t known for being a football hot-bed, but Mooney speed certainly stands out. The 5-10, 176-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds. If you blink, you’ll miss him.
Bears trade up for Darnell Mooney, truly one of the last speedy WRs in the draft. Filling a HUGE need.
Get us a solid guard and RB2 and were looking good.

Mooney had a breakout season as a junior for Tulane, catching 48 passes, gaining 993 reviving yards, and scoring 8 touchdowns. His 20.6 yards per catch was the sixth most in the country. Mooney’s production tailed off in 2019 with 713 yards on 48 catches and just five touchdowns. But he still has that speed, which is something everyone knew the Bears needed to add to their offense.
We’ll have more on Mooney in a little bit.
