Undrafted free agent signing season is upon us, and the Chicago Bears continue to add to their roster.
Brett round up some of the early signees on Saturday. But the dust has settled on the rest of the group, which in total, is an 11-player class.
• Lee Autry, defensive tackle, Mississippi State
• Dieter Eiselen, offensive guard, Yale
• Keandre Jones, linebacker, Maryland
• LaCale London, linebacker, Western Illinois
• Ledarius Mack, linebacker, Buffalo
• Napoleon Maxwell, running back, Florida International
• Trevor McSwain, defensive tackle, Duke
• Artavis Pierce, running back, Oregon State
• Rashad Smith, linebacker, Florida Atlantic
• Badara Traore, offensive tackle, LSU
• Ahmad Wagner, wide receiver, Kentucky
There you have it.
Eleven players. Six defenders. Two offensive linemen. And no quarterbacks.
Last year’s Bears UDFA haul was widely regarded as a stellar group, as the team’s priority free agent signings featured a handful of players who ere projected to get picked in the middle or later rounds of the draft. And yet, the only player to make the active roster from the group was offensive lineman Alex Bars. In essence, that should serve as a warning to not get too attached to any of these prospects, because they could be gone in an instant.
Even still … it’s fun to have nice players to talk about. And as we go through the week, we’ll take some deeper dives into the new guys, including Ledarius Mack, brother of Khalil Mack.
