Washington to Hire a Lawyer for Internal Review; Minority Owners Looking to Get Out
I don’t feel comfortable participating in the rumor-mongering on social media regarding news centering on Washington’s NFL franchise.
But I can’t completely ignore it. Especially since the team is making headlines for finally agreeing to change its nickname. Something big appears to be in the works, but what it is remains to be learned publicly.
Whatever it is, it has the team’s minority owners actively seeking to get out:
Minority shareholders of Washington’s NFL team have hired the investment bank, Moag & Company, to vet buyers and to sell their stake in the team, per a league source.

And then there’s this:
The Washington Post is preparing a story about its NFL team that is expected to highlight the culture that is existed. Within the past week, front office members Richard Mann III and Alex Santos, as well as radio play-by-play voice Larry Michael, all left the organization.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the organization hired an attorney to “review the organization’s protocols.”
This includes a “deep dive” into the franchise’s past culture. Additionally, Schefter references a Washington Post story that isin the works. Presumably, it will shed light on culture issues within the organization. If this is all connected, then the Washington Post story that’s on deck will be a whopper.
In the end, what we know is that serious things are happening in Washington’s organization. So much so, the team hired a lawyer from the outside to look at what’s happening within. And by doing that, the franchise is likely looking to get a handle on damage control early while it can. In the meantime, we will keep an eye out for news once it breaks.
