There is so much time between now and Week 1 to obsess over the quarterback competition, I’d like to take a moment to show some love for the Bears’ pass-catchers.
I know what you’re going to say. It’s just practice. But, practice or not, these guys put on a show catching passes from Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles:
The tight ends were impressive. Jimmy Graham looked as good as advertised. Cole Kmet showed he can snag passes, too. Seeing someone wear No. 87 after Adam Shaheen’s denature is weird, but it suits Jersper Horsted more than ‘49’ did. Demetrius Harris showed he has hands and hops. It’s taken an investment of cash and draft capital, but the Bears’ tight ends room looks to be light years ahead of what it was at this time last year. So let’s not take that for granted.
And how about Allen Robinson? Guy doesn’t just have hops, he can levitate like a Jedi master.
No, seriously. If Robinson isn’t from another galaxy, then explain this:

That’s what I thought.
And that catch while being blanketed in coverage by Eddie Jackson? That was *chef’s kiss* good! Why hasn’t this star’s contract been extended yet?
I could gripe about coverages. Because, honestly, I saw Deon Bush getting beaten a bit too much for my liking in the highlights. But I won’t because the offense didn’t have too many bright spots to write about last year. And they were certainly few and far between in training camp. So I’ll take this for what it is and hope the group can build on this practice effort.
