Patrick Finley of the Sun-Times reports the Bears are joining the sports world in protesting the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. As we touched upon yesterday, Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy and offensive lineman Charles Leno Jr. addressed the situation with some strong statements. Since then, we have seen NBA teams sit out of playoff games and players in MLB sit out as signs of protest.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune tweets the team was set to have a meeting at 9:30 a.m. to see where things would go from there. Practice could be held later. Or the protest could march on.
Other teams around the NFL have canceled or postponed practices in the wake of the Jacob Blake shooting, as well. Among them, the Packers, Colts, and Washington’s football team. With that in mind, we’ll keep tabs on this situation as it develops.
