The Chicago Bears kick off their season in 13 days.
In a normal year, we’d be digging into preseason footage and overanalyzing training camp notes from road trips to Bourbonnais. But as we all know by now, 2020 is anything but a normal year. And thus, the pre-season ramp-up period is far different than anything anyone has ever experienced.
HOWEVER, if there’s one thing we can count on, it’s that Eddie Jackson and Tarik Cohen will bring the heat when mic’d up:
One reason the Bears are in a position to make a run at a postseason berth in 2020 is because of Jackson and Cohen, a pair of 2017 fourth-round picks who have panned out for the Bears. Jackson is a two-time Pro Bowl safety and one of the best at his position. Cohen is just one year removed from being an All-Pro punt returner. In addition to being skilled football players, they’re all sorts of fun when the spotlight is on them.
Jackson is out there chirping teammates, doing roll call, and serving as a pseudo pitch man for Deja Blue water and Gatorade in a can. And then there’s Cohen cracking jokes about Jimmy Graham’s helmet size, showing off his juke moves, and making a case for an internship after picking up cans from the practice field. And for a moment, I remembered that football practice can be quite enjoyable.
We’ll soon dive into some of the nitty gritty surrounding the Bears as they march toward their season-opener. But in the meantime, give these guys their own episode of 1920 Football Drive, please!
