Ha Ha Clinton-Dix performed admirably as a one-year stop-gap, filling in for Adrian Amos and playing next to Eddie Jackson.
But one year was enough for Clinton-Dix, who signed with the Cowboys early in the offseason. Meanwhile, the Bears have since moved on to choosing between Eddie Jackson and Deon Bush as this year’s quick fix at the position.
As for Clinton-Dix, his time with the Cowboys has already come to an end:
The Cowboys have released veteran safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, according to @toddarcher.

Clinton-Dix’s release was a bit unexpected. Dallas signed him to a one-year deal worth $3.75 million. By cutting Clinton-Dix, the Cowboys are set to save $1.5 million in cap space. Maybe that money will be reallocated elsewhere. Even still … that alone isn’t enough to move the needle too much. Then again, having an estimated $16.478 million in cap space isn’t the worst thing to have. Especially since some of it could be rolled over into 2021, when the league is expected to have the cap slashed by at as much as $20 million.
The Bears were lined up to get a compensatory sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft because of Clinton-Dix’s signing with the Cowboys. And in previous years, Clinton-Dix getting cut now would have tweaked the comp pick formula. But Jason Fitzgerald of OverTheCap tweets the Bears are still in good shape to get that pick. That’s a relief.
