If the 2010 Bulls had a recruiter as active as Cordarrelle Patterson, then LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Kyle Korver, Carlos Boozer, and the rest of the Bench Mob would’ve signed deals for the minimum and they’d be running on a decade-long dynasty.
Instead, the Bears are lucky enough to have Patterson’s activity as a recruiter helping them out.
After reaching out to high profile free agents at the start of the new league year, Patterson has set his sights on a new target. Free agent defensive lineman Damon “Snacks” Harrison, who the Bears have been connected to recently, had a Twitter exchange with Patterson that has me tickled:
We gonna set one up after my first visit!
— Damon Harrison Sr. (@snacks) September 25, 2020
Harrison reportedly has a visit with the Seahawks scheduled for next week. But judging by Harrison’s tweet, that trip might not be his last. And because visions of watching Adrian Peterson run wild in Week 1 are still dancing in my head, I can’t shake the feeling the Bears could use Harrison in the middle of their defense. Maybe Patterson sees that, too. Or maybe he’s just doing his due diligence in trying to help his team get that much closer to solidifying a spot among contenders. In any case, I love seeing Patterson reach out to try and make things happen.
I might have been joking when I mentioned Patterson as a future NFL GM, but maybe I shouldn’t have been. The man clearly has an eye for talent and it should make NFL front offices consider adding him to their mix once his playing career is over.
