The baton is officially being passed from Mitchell Trubisky to Nick Foles.
During his Monday press conference, Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy confirmed Foles would get the start at quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts after he led the Bears to comeback win against the Falcons yesterday.
And this isn’t a play-to-play, week-by-week thing. This is Foles’ job until further notice:
Nagy on Foles: "He's our starter moving forward."

There was no hiding the ball or playing mind-games with an upcoming opponent on this one, because everyone knew where this had to go after Sunday. The decision officially came down on Monday after Nagy and his staff re-watched Sunday’s win against the Atlanta Falcons. Both quarterbacks have been informed of the decision, and now, the team moves forward with the player Chicago traded a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to push (and ultimately replace) Trubisky.
I imagine the game tape looked as good in review as it did in real-time for Foles, who completed 16 of 29 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns in rallying the Bears from a 16-point deficit to win 30-26. He also had two touchdowns wiped off the board after replay review overturns, including one that was magically turned into an interception (albeit one that comes with an asterisk, if you ask me). But perhaps most important of all is that the Bears offense moved with a rhythm it hadn’t before, which led to a come-from-behind victory.
There’s so much to dive into when it comes to making this decision and what the Bears now look like going forward. We’ll get into it in the coming days.
