It’s a Victory Friday for Bears fans and the temperatures are expected to reach a high of 79. Let’s have some fun.
• I couldn’t have said it any better, Nick:
Nick Foles on the win: "It reminded me of a good ole fist fight in Philly. Now I get to do it in Chicago."
— Adam Hoge (@AdamHoge) October 9, 2020
• My go-to comp for a game like the one we saw between the Bears and Buccaneers is a taffy pull. But Nick Foles’ Philly fist fight comparison is right on the nose. It was a knock-down, drag-out, whale of a time — even if it was a sluggish grind. A few jabs landed, but haymakers were laughably missed and the guy on the losing side spent most of the fight with his shirt pulled over his head somehow. In the end, the Bears dealt the final and lasting blow, emerged victorious, and ultimately walked to the corner diner for a post-fight meal of steak and eggs at some unholy hour in the morning. They might look rough now, but you should see how the other guy looks!
• Fun facts from the fist fight:
FUN FACT: According to ESPN, Tom Brady had won 42 straight games dating back to 2015 when his team had led by at least 13 points, longest active streak for an NFL QB. But #Bears snapped it tonight, rallying from 13-0 deficit to win 20-19.

The #Bears are the first team in the last 30 seasons to have 3 wins in which they trailed by 12+ points in their first 5 games of a season
— James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) October 9, 2020
Stat ESPN just showed: This is the second year the Bears have come back from 10+ down to win in 3 of their first 5 games to start a season. The other time? 1985.
Super Bowl it is.

• The Bears are going to the Super Bowl and I’ll hear nothing to the contrary.
• Old Man Brady was salty as heck after that one:

• Don’t say we didn’t warn you:
Crazy that we get to see Nick Foles beat Tom Brady again today. pic.twitter.com/r5HgwdqNrd
— Bleacher Nation Bears (@BN_Bears) October 8, 2020
• It’s not the first time Brady snubbed Foles in the post-game handshake.
• On one hand, the NFL has been trying to cut down on post-game fraternizing because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then again, that hasn’t stopped Brady from shaking up with other quarterbacks. But I get it. I don’t know if I’d be able to dap a journeyman who owns my soul.
• Could you imagine how this would be covered if it was Jay Cutler or Cam Newton pulling this stunt? Yeah … I’d rather not.
• Speaking of salty:
and another thing: im not mad. please dont put in the newspaper that i got mad. https://t.co/FiI0ApGOdl

• If you’re going to build your brand on the back of antagonizing passionate fan bases, you better be prepared to take it when things go sideways on you. Otherwise, follow rule #1 of Twitter: “Never tweet.”
• It’s not as if these wins don’t count the same. In our morning group chat, Michael made an excellent point: Pretending like those two games came down to Brady forgetting that four comes after three or Swift dropping a pass is hogwash. Had the Bucs and Lions performed better in the previous 59 minutes of those respective games, it would’ve never come down to that last play. It’s why they play 60 minutes. The Bears beat a legit Super Bowl contender. Cram it.

• We can laugh at this now, but in the moment, I was brooding over this miss:
very helpful illustration of social-distancing protocol between that ball and mooney https://t.co/pFG14OQoQk

• Mooney’s route deserved a better finish:

• This is what a relentless pass-rush looks like in graphic form:
Mario Edwards was also effective as a change of pace EDGE rusher, generating 3 pressures on just 11 pressures (27.3%).
One of those pressures forced an errant throw by Tom Brady to a wide open Tanner Hudson (5+ yards of separation) in the end zone on the first drive of the game. pic.twitter.com/ADyH0wrv8J

• When we talk about rewarding Allen Robinson for a job well done, this isn’t what we had in mind:

• Robinson had another ball taken from him. But when he says he’ll be better, I believe him:

• #Extend84, too:
Cordarrell Patterson had 164 total yards for the Bears.

No positives this morning for both the Titans and Patriots means that their games now are on track to be played.
