Antonio Brown is one of the most talented receivers I’ve ever watched play football. He is also one of the most mercurial guys to ever step foot in a locker room. And yet, because Antonio Brown’s suspension will be up after Week 8, he’s about to become a hot commodity on the open market:

Interest in Antonio Brown
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Seattle Seahawks are among the teams showing interest in signing the free agent receiver when his suspension is up after Week 8. Thanks to Antonio Brown’s suspension, he hasn’t played a down of football since September 2019 when the Patriots cut him after just one game with the team. He did catch four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown in that effort, but wore out his welcome quickly.
New England cut Brown on September 20 after a whirlwind 13 days with the team. Because days after signing with the Patriots, Ben Shpigel of the New York Times reported Brown was sued for sexual assault and rape. Shortly after that, SI.com’s Robert Klemko reported new allegations from an accuser who says Brown sent “intimidating” text messages after she made more accusations against Brown. It didn’t take long after those details were reported for Bill Belichick to cut ties. The league ultimately stepped in and slapped Brown with an eight-week suspension, which kept him off the radars for most teams. But now that the seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro is eligible to return, the Seahawks are among those interested.
There is no shortage of teams who couldn’t use a player like Brown. But at this point, how many second chances will Brown get? I suppose we’ll find out soon enough.
