I’ve found myself taking trips down memory lane recently, and nothing reminds me of “the good ole days” like hearing this song first thing on a Friday morning:
Yep … those are the feels.
• Are we sure someone has to win the NFC East? The Giants coughed up a 21-10 fourth-quarter lead on Thursday Night Football, ultimately losing to the Eagles by a 22-21 score. If you ever wanted a case against TNF being a thing, that game provided everything no one ever asked for in a professional football game. Maybe the NFC East should play all of its games on Thursdays. It would make them a lot easier to ignore.
• The Lincoln Financial Field Turf Monster remains undefeated:

• OOF:
#Giants QB Daniel Jones reached 21.23 MPH on his epic, unforgettable 80-yard run vs the #Eagles, the fastest speed reached by any QB as a ball carrier since 2018, per @NextGenStats. The longest run by a QB who didn’t score on the play since at least 1975.

• Carson Wentz saved his best throw for last:

• As a Bears fan, that’s a game I’d prefer the Giants have won. The Eagles are battle-tested and dangerous. Hence, I wouldn’t mind seeing them not in the playoff picture just in case the Bears end up in a wild-card spot where they have to travel to play the NFC East winner.
• Do you want to feel excited about the Bears’ strong start? Of course you do! Jeff Hughes (Da Bears Blog) has reasons for optimism while others jump to the conclusion that the Bears are frauds (mostly because there’s egg on their face for picking the Vikings and Lions to finish ahead of Chicago in the standings).
• As a reminder, it doesn’t matter if the Bears are frauds, writes JJ Stankevitz of NBC Sports Chicago. What’s real is that the Bears have won five of six games. They have beaten teams they weren’t supposed to beat. Their last two wins came against teams who had winning records entering the matchup. One of those wins was against a Buccaneers squad that’s among the Super Bowl favorites. I maintain that what you’re seeing from these Bears are real. It’s an elite defense that’s good enough to stop anyone at a given moment teamed with an offense that scores just enough to get by. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than the alternative.
• A triumphant return:
#Bears offensive line coach Juan Castillo was back at practice today after self-quarantining last week and skipping the trip to Carolina.

• Now get back to work, coach. Your position group needs all the help it can get.
• Please send help:

• An update regarding practice squad offensive lineman Badara Traore, who tested positive for COVID-19 after the Bears-Bucs TNF game:
Bears practice squad OL Badara Traore did not practice today. He's the one who tested positive for coronavirus Oct. 10 and hasn't been back since (believed to be doing well health-wise).

• I was there for this game and it was glorious:
DC Brandon Staley says sorry, he can’t help the Rams finally have a good offensive game against the Bears: “I don’t think Sean needs a lot of help from me. That game in 2018, you have 2 teams playing in the cold. That was a great defensive game.”

• Keep up the good work, gents:
Bears have intercepted Jared Goff 5 times total in their previous two meetings. He's thrown for a total of 353 yards in those two.

• For your listening pleasure:
"That's bold right?"
"It's not bold. It's idiotic. It's insane."

• This is touching: Larry Mayer of the Bears’ official website writes safety DeAndre Houston-Carson is dedicating the rest of the season to his best friend’s mother, who passed away Sunday shortly after DHC’s interception sealed a win for Chicago.
• The NFL rescheduled the SNF game between the Buccaneers and Raiders and moved it to an afternoon tilt so it wouldn’t get caught without a primetime night game. But more than that, they did it because the team’s starting offensive line is on the reserve/COVID-19 list, per The Mercury News. Here’s the tweaked schedule:

• There are still bridges to cross, but the preliminary signs are hopeful:
No more positive tests this morning for the Raiders or Broncos, per sources.
Games remain on track to be played Sunday.
