The Chicago Bears are dealing with injury issues of their own. And at a very important position group no less.
But up in Green Bay, the Packers’ running backs room is getting awfully thin:
Now that Packers RB Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillon are out Thursday night against SF due to COVID protocols, Green Bay’s lone remaining healthy RBs are Dexter Williams and Tyler Ervin.
Packers remain unsure if RB Aaron Jones will return from his calf injury vs. 49ers.

Running back Aaron Jones missed the team’s Week 8 loss to the Vikings because of a calf injury. Further complicating matters since that game ended is that reserves Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillon won’t play because of COVID-19 protocols. Dillon, a 22-year-old rookie, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, while Williams came up as a close contact after contact tracing. Because of the quick turnaround, neither will play against the 49ers on Thursday Night Football. Thus, making Green Bay’s running backs room that much thinner.
Jones was listed as a “limited” participant in the Packers’ first estimated injury report of the week. Teams that play on TNF after a Sunday game don’t practice. And instead, provide estimated practice and injury reports after walk-throughs based on how things would’ve been rolling in a hypothetical real practice. Complicated, I admit. But still … it’s something to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday’s game that has all sorts of NFC North and wild card implications.
