Another member of the Chicago Bears is headed to the reserve/COVID-19 list, making them ineligible to play in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
Safety Deon Bush joins offensive linemen Cody Whitehair and Jason Spriggs on the list:
#Bears Roster Move:
We have placed DB Deon Bush on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Bush has been ruled out for Sunday's game at the Titans.— Chicago Bears (@BearsPR) November 8, 2020
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero adds Bush heads to the reserve/COVID-19 list because of close contact who isn’t with the team or at Halas Hall. Moreover, Pelissero notes that it isn’t a positive test that is keeping Bush out this week. So while Bush made the trip to Nashville, he is in quarantine away from the team and won’t play.
Bush isn’t a starter, but plays a key role on defense and special teams. Chicago uses Bush in as a rover defender in place of a linebacker in certain packages. Beyond that, Bush is a core member of the Bears’ special teams. He’ll be missed, but the show goes on. Here’s hoping Bush won’t test positive for COVID-19 and whomever the close contact was can get to full health soon.
