With Mitchell Trubisky sidelined due to a shoulder injury, Tyler Bray is one snap away from taking over for Nick Foles. So with that in mind, the Bears worked out some quarterbacks last week.
And soon enough, they’ll be adding one to the practice squad roster:
The #Bears are getting some QB insurance, as Kyle Sloter is signing to Chicago’s practice squad, source said.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport tweets the Chicago Bears are signing Kyle Sloter to their practice squad.
Sloter visited Halas Hall for tryouts in August, then again in November. So not only did the Bears bring him in for multiple looks, they liked him enough to invite him onto the practice squad. Welcome to the party, new guy!
Here’s what we wrote about Sloter last week:
“Sloter, 26, has waves of preseason and practice squad experience under his belt. The well-traveled preseason standout has been with the Broncos (2017), Vikings (2017-18), Cardinals (2019), and Lions (2019). And yet, he has never taken a regular-season snap. But considering his experience with the Vikings and Lions, maybe he can share some rivals’ secrets. Or maybe he can divulge some information as to how Kliff Kingsbury runs the Cardinals’ offense. That looks like fun!”
I might’ve had my tongue firmly planted in my cheek when I wrote that Kliff Kingsbury zinger. But considering how the Bears’ offense has run lately, digging into Sloter’s brain and pulling out any pertinent ideas on how to run a fully functioning professional offense couldn’t hurt. Heck, it might be helpful.
At minimum, the Bears have three healthy quarterbacks on their roster again.
