The Senior Bowl is the premier college football all-star prospect showcase. It’s a place to scout, meet, and interview some of the upcoming NFL Draft class’ best prospects in one fell swoop. And even though playing football in a pandemic has its share of hurdles, the show goes on in in Mobile, Ala., where the 72nd Senior Bowl will take place.
And to that point, this year’s group of quarterbacks appears loaded:
Five QBs have accepted their #SeniorBowl invites:
Trask
Mond
Ehlinger
Newman
BookIf they only take 6 QBs, my vote goes to #Pitt QB Kenny Pickett for the last spot. #Arkansas QB Feleipe Franks another strong candidate.

Dane Brugler reports five quarterbacks have already accepted Senior Bowl invites. And if you’re a team like the Bears who should be turning over every stone in search of a new quarterback, then some of these prospects should intrigue you more than others.
Kyle Trask (Florida) is moving up prospect lists. Trask is a Heisman Trophy contender with numbers (28 TD, 3 INT) that back up his candidacy. Jamie Newman (Georgia/Wake Forest) could have played himself into a first-round grade, but opted out of playing this season to focus on training to prepare for the NFL Draft. A solid showing during Senior Bowl week (and the game) could put him back on many radars. Kellen Mond (Texas A&M) is someone worth keeping tabs on, even though he’s on the fringes of the conversation. Recently, some feel Mond has an outside chance of landing in Round 1, so that’s worth monitoring as this college football season goes on.
Ian Book (Notre Dame) and Sam Ehlinger (Texas) are seniors at high-profile blue blood programs who fans love. Both still have work to do to rise up draft charts, but could make a statement at the Senior Bowl.
Altogether, the Senior Bowl could have as many as eight quarterbacks showcasing their skills this January. But as Brugler points out, they could stick with just six. And while there are already five penciled into spots, more could be coming down the line. So with that in mind, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more updates.
In any case, it’ll be nice to have the Senior Bowl to evaluate prospects at the game’s most important position.
