REPORT: Denver Broncos Will Not Have a Single Quarterback Eligible to Play Tomorrow

Chicago Bears

Although we know there will be positive COVID-19 tests in all walks of life right now, there are certainly a number of precautions that can be taken to reduce the risk. Moreover, there are precautions that can be taken to reduce the risk of significant spread. In the sports world, that has been critical to continue to play, given how close players and staff would otherwise be. One case could quickly become 20.

That’s why it is so mindboggling to me that the Denver Broncos could possibly have allowed this to happen:

Again, a positive test could happen, but how are you possibly letting every single rostered quarterback be together in such a way as to qualify as a close contact (to say nothing of the actual risk of spread)? That’s just indefensible in so many ways, and the Broncos have earned having to play this game without a quarterback. Schefter reports that – and not a forfeit – is currently the plan.

Admittedly, once you get past the don’t-pull-this-shit-in-a-pandemic side of things, it’ll be kinda wild to see a modern NFL team try to play a game with no quarterback.
