Once Kendall Hinton takes his first snaps at QB, he’ll be making some Broncos history.
A nugget from Jack Silverstein:
NFL irony:
In 1968, the Broncos became the first future NFL team to start a modern Black quarterback: Marlin Briscoe. He was excellent, and then forced to play WR the rest of his pro career.

But before committing to Hinton, Denver wanted to go off the board for a starting quarterback for Sunday’s game.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Broncos wanted to sign Rob Calabrese — their Offensive Quality Control Coach — to play quarterback on Sunday against the Saints. Because, in case you missed it, all of Denver’s QBs were ineligible to play in Sunday’s game because of COVID-19 protocols. But NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell nixed those plans, thus, leaving Denver to elevate practice squad receiver Kendall Hinton to play quarterback.
A coach playing quarterback? That concept sounds familiar:

I didn’t realize how good of an angle I had for this Matt Nagy dime to Javon Wims from Monday’s practice until I got a chance to sort through my camera roll this morning. pic.twitter.com/XRxf39W9Rk

For what it’s worth, the Broncos had other options:
Guess ima have to get my Lamar Jackson on

But to be honest, some where less realistic than others:

Hey, @nuggets.
Is Jokic available?
Asking for a friend.

The Broncos-Saints game is set to kick off shortly after 3 p.m. CT. This gives them time to check out Willie Beamen, Lance Harbor, Jonathon Moxon, Shane Falco, and the quarterback from Little Giants.
