I suppose it’s that time of the year when NFL ownership groups disappointed with where their respective teams are in the standings start looking toward the future.
And in an attempt to not fall too far behind some of the other teams in the league, the Jacksonville Jaguars have dismissed their general manager:
Jaguars have fired GM Dave Caldwell, per sources.

Caldwell had been the Jaguars’ GM since 2013. He was running the show when the team went 10-6 in 2017 and gave the Patriots a real fight in the AFC Championship Game. But other than that fabled run in 2017, Jacksonville put up no other winning seasons. And to really drive home how awful the team was, it put forth six years with at least 10 losses. Tack on the Blake Bortles draft pick, extension, passing on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson in favor of selecting Leonard Fournette, and trading defensive studs like Jalen Ramsey and Calais Campbell, the Jaguars are a mess. And frankly, have been one for quite some time.
It’s a notable move for the Jaguars to make this decision now. After all, they’re joining the Lions, Texans, and Falcons as teams already in the hunt for help in organizational restructuring. And who knows which team(s) could follow suit in due time…
