Last year’s quarterback carousel was a non-stop event, and I don’t expect this year to be any different. Moreover, I believe we’ll hear plenty of speculation that involves the Chicago Bears.
HOWEVA … this is not something I had expected:
He's on the "they'll look into" list. https://t.co/TabB4ZVSBe

Benjamin Allbright is ridiculously plugged into the Denver Broncos situation. So when he tweets something like this, it puts us on notice. And while dealing Foles isn’t something on our radar right now because all eyes should be on the Bears’ upcoming playoff game against the Saints, this connection was too much not to ignore.
Further, when you consider that Denver could hire Bears executive Champ Kelly to be GM, it’s not something I could throw on the back-burner for too long.
I don’t want to get too deep into the weeds here. But I suppose Foles could be the type of quarterback the Broncos add as depth or competition for incumbent Drew Lock. Maybe Foles is seen as a potential mentor for a young quarterback on the rise. Don’t mind me. I’m just trying to talk through the idea of Foles being on a team’s “they’ll look into” list one offseason after he was benched after floundering as a starter in Chicago.
Then again, football fans of a certain age know John Elway has an affinity for tall QBs, of which Foles — all 6-foot-6-inches of him — fits. And for what it’s worth, the Broncos reportedly “kicked the tires” on acquiring Foles before trading for Joe Flacco. Hey, when you have a type, you have a type. Don’t run from it, embrace it.
Again, there’s no need to get too deep into this. But there’s never a bad time to throw something on our radar and put a pin in it for a later date.
