If you know anyone who is connected to someone who’s connected to someone, they’re sliding into your DMs and texts right now about Russell Wilson and the Chicago Bears. The rumors out there behind the scenes are crazy, and while it’s impossible to say what’s real and what’s smoke, it’s clear that the idea of the Bears landing Wilson is no longer viewed as impossible.
Even Colin Cowherd is getting in on the buzz:
“I’m told the Chicago Bears are trying to make a move on Russell Wilson and trying to create a move that is so good Seattle can’t say no."

I don’t know how much stock I’d put in what Colin Cowherd is hearing, so take the “report” part of this with a grain of salt. Cowherd says he hears about talks, hears about how much the Bears are trying to go nuts, etc. That’s not zero value there, but you can kinda just add it to the pile of similar reports out there, which all square with the obvious: yes, the Bears would love to land Wilson, whose agent has said he’d accept a trade to the Bears.
That said, I do think there’s some real value here. Specifically, I think it’s worth pointing out that this is a story that has gotten to the point where it’s eating up a whole lotta air time on The Herd and the Seahawks and Wilson are STILL silent. No speaking out in any direction. It’s deafening, and it means, yes, clearly, talks are happening. Things are seriously being considered.
None of that means a trade happens – to the Bears or to another team – but it does mean that this has never just been bluster or overdramatized reporting. The Seahawks really might consider moving Wilson over the next week+ (free agency opens next week), and that is wild. The Bears have a chance.
