I see big moves are all the rage for Chicago’s sports teams today.
Nikola Vucevic is coming to play for the Bulls. So are Mo Wagner and Troy Brown.
Meanwhile, in the land of the Bears, the depth signings keep piling up:

DeAndre Houston-Carson returns on a one-year deal. Houston-Carson joins Deon Bush as safeties coming back who also happen to be key members of the special teams unit. There’s no such thing as having too much depth in the defensive backfield. And we can’t overstate the improved production from the special teams group over the last two seasons. So with that in mind, Houston-Carson’s return is a welcome one.
In addition to his special teams excellence, Houston-Carson was in the right place at the right time for a handful of key defensive moments that were ultimately instrumental in the Bears making the postseason:
Tom Brady thought he was gonna pick in DeAndre Houston-Carson, but DHC was having none of it. 🚫✈️

Houston-Carson, 27, was a sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. And while he has played a vast majority of his pro snaps as a special teams contributor, seeing Houston-Carson set to enter his sixth year with the Bears suggests the team did well with his draft pick. So even though this is yet another signing that won’t go in the splash category, Chicago’s insistence on building depth shouldn’t be lost in the sauce.
